New research project at the department for Resource Efficient Wastewater Technology

Since 21.03.2018 the German Federal Environmental Foundation has been funding the research project "Project Reinighof - Development and testing of a self-sufficient resource recovery and wastewater disposal system".

Guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Ir. Paula Paulo from the Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul on April 5th at 09:00 am in Building 14/103 on the topic Resource-Oriented Sanitation in Brazil: Ongoing research, Knowledge Gaps and Need for Collaboration

The Department for Resource-Efficient Wastewater Technology is very pleased to welcome Madam Prof. Dr. Ir. Paula Paulo from the Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) as guest lecturer. Prof. Paulo will give a 40 min lecture on source-separation for wastewater management in Brazil.
Prof. Paulo graduated in Chemical Engineering at the Universidade Estadual de Maringá (BR, 1992). She then obtained a Master's Degree in Engineering of Public Health from the Leeds University (UK) in 1997 as well as a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the Wageningen University & Research Centrum under supervision of Prof. Dr. Ir. Gatze Lettinga (NL, 2002), where she also concluded her postdoc (2003). Prof. Paulo is currently carrying out a sabbatical leave in the Chair for Sanitary Engineering at the Delft University of Technology (NL) in the research group of Prof. Dr. Ir. Jules van Lier. At the UFMS Prof. Paulo leads the CNPq research group Resource-oriented Sanitation. Her current research focuses on natural treatment systems and the recycling of domestic and agroindustrial wastewater streams. Prof. Paulo is also a committee member of the IWA Specialist Group Resource-Oriented Sanitation.

Since 01.01.2018 the Willy-Hager Foundation has been funding the research project "Biopolymer production from industrial wastewater streams - Influencing factors on sub-processes and development of measurement and control strategies for a closed process chain".

In the scope of the current civil Engineering-Bauingenieur-colloqium presented by Mr. Dr.-Ing. Gerd Kolisch und Mr. Dipl.-Ing. Yannick Taudien, Wupperverbandsgesellschaft für integrale Wasserwirtschaft mbH, Wuppertal (WiW), about "Perspectives on the future sludge disposal - revealed on the example of the Region Treves".

inaugural lecture of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heidrun Steinmetz

On Tuesday, July 19th 2016 at 3 pm, the inaugural lecture of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heidrun Steinmetz had taken place at the Rotunde (TU Kaiserslautern).

Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Environment and the University of Kaiserslautern

The Environment Ministry has signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Kaiserslautern and the University of Koblenz-Landau with a duration of five years.

The emphasis of this research collaboration with the University of Kaiserslautern comprises the reduction of micro-pollutants, the development of future-oriented sludge treatment concepts and the scientific observation of the operational and energy optimization of sewer systems and wastewater treatment plants.

Prof. Theo Schmitt and Prof. Heidrun Steinmetz will undertake the project management of this cooperation.
