Welcome to the website of the department Resource Efficient Wastewater Technology!

The new department Resource Efficient Wastewater Technology was established on the 1st of January 2016 and focuses on wastewater as a resource. It is funded and promoted by the Carl-Zeiss-Foundation.

Therefore, the focus of research lies on the development and improvement of concepts, processes and process technologies to recover wastewater constituents and use of the energy potential contained therein.

The department works in the field of water recycling, recovery of nutrients, energy optimisation of wastewater treatment plants as well as anaerobic technologies.

Since 2017, the department urban water Management (siwawi), ressource efficient wastewater Treatment (rewa) and the centre of innovative wastewater treatment Technologies (tectraa) have been merged to the Institute water-infrastructure-resources (WIR) at the University of Kaiserslautern.
