Prof. Dr. Björn-Martin Kurzrock is the Professor of Real Estate Studies at TUK. He is responsible for bachelor's and master's degree courses in Real Estate and Facilities – Management and Technology in the Department of Civil Engineering, since 2015 as head of the program.
Professor Kurzrock conducts and coordinates research in particular on digital real estate management and real estate development as well as knowledge transfer and incentive mechanisms in the construction and real estate sector. He teaches courses in strategic real estate and facilities management, investment management, development, due diligence and valuation.
Before joining TUK, he was Head of Research at IPD Investment Property Databank (today: MSCI) in Germany and had worked for international companies as a Financial Analyst and Research Analyst for institutional real estate portfolios. His doctorate degree is from EBS European Business School (EBS University of Economics and Law) on "Factors that influence the performance of direct real estate investments". He holds a degree in business administration with majors in real estate and finance from EBS and a Master of Science in Real Estate from Georgia State University Atlanta (USA).
Professor Kurzrock is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Real Estate Economics (ZIÖ). He is the President of the European Real Estate Society (ERES). Since 2016 he has been a member of the Board of ERES and represented the Gesellschaft für immobilienwirtschaftliche Forschung (gif). Professor Kurzrock has been awarded several times with the Student Award for excellent teaching in the Department of Civil Engineering at TUK.
