As part of the event "Introduction to the Practice of Facility Management", the students of the 2nd semester of the Facility Management course visited the City Hall of Kaiserslautern with Prof. Sabine Hoffmann.

After a short general introduction, the director of the building management department, Dipl.-Arch. Udo Holzmann, presented the tasks of technical facility management at the municipal level. With over 340 employees, all 280 properties + real estate belonging to the city of Kaiserslautern are looked after and managed under his leadership. Mr. Holzmann gave an engaging, informative talk about the tasks of his department and had the undivided attention of the students present, who got an excellent view of their future field of work.

The lecture and discussion was followed by a tour of various technical facilities at City Hall. Here the technical janitor, Mr. Schoner, presented among other things in the basement the refrigeration system, the electrical distribution and the backup power system.

On the 22nd and 23rd floors, the students were able to look at the ventilation system and the elevator technology. Mr. Holzmann supplemented the explanations with background information on planning and execution.

Besides, they had a wonderful view on the roofs of Kaiserslautern.

The visit to the city hall and the tours of the facilities were an all-around successful excursion, for which the Facility Management program would like to express its sincere thanks to the city of Kaiserslautern.
