Renewable energies, demographic change, technological innovations, complexity and sustainability specifically affect the real estate sector. The Unit of Real Estate Studies at TUK performs and initiates research projects in the fields of building production and real estate management. The composition of the Team from the fields of business management, engineering, IT and regional planning under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Björn-Martin Kurzrock allows for a cross-linked view on the construction and real estate industry from different perspectives. Our focus is on sustainable property and building stock development, Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and building documentation.
We want to use the opportunities offered by digitization in the construction and real estate sector to the best of our ability for all parties involved. The strengthening of knowledge transfer within the construction and real estate domain is a particular concern of the unit in research and teaching.
The unit is a member of the research initiative Regions and Cities at the University of Kaiserslautern.
Main aspects in research projects are:
- Digital building documentation and automated information extraction
- Life cycle costing (calculation, simulation, Documentation, due diligence)
- Sustainable property development
- Knowledge transfer, incenctive systems and aspects of risk management
