Renewable energies, demographic change, technological innovations, complexity and sustainability specifically affect the real estate sector. The Unit of Real Estate Studies at the University of Kaiserslautern performs and initiates research projects individually and with consortium partners in the fields of building production and real estate management. The composition of the Team from the fields of business management, engineering and regional planning under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Björn-Martin Kurzrock allows for a cross-linked view on the construction and real estate industry from different perspectives. The focus is on instruments and concepts for intelligent design and operation of districts, buildings and building equipment. This encompasses in particular Lean Construction/Management, sustainable building stock development, Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and building documentation. The strengthening of knowledge transfer within the construction and real estate domain is a particular concern of the unit in research and teaching.
The unit is a member of the research initiative Regions and Cities at the University of Kaiserslautern.
Main aspects in research projects are:
- Digital building documentation and lean construction/management
- Life cycle costing (calculation, simulation, Documentation, due diligence)
- Knowledge transfer, incenctive systems and aspects of risk management
- Sustainable property development
